RevCast Special: SCI FIGHTERS LIVE: Harry Potter vs. Star Wars

We assembled two Star Wars fans and two Harry Potter fans at the Hoover Library in Birmingham, Alabama’s Sci-Fi & Fantasy Fest in front of a live audience for a panel called “Harry Potter vs Star Wars.”

Some panels such as this would host an intelligent discussion about the differences and similarities in a reserved, intellectual atmosphere.

RevolutionSF RevCast Special: SCI FIGHTERS: Star Trek vs. Star Wars

Live in front of a fabulous studio audience at Magic City Con 2016 — RevSF’s Joe Crowe along with the Cosmic Potato podcast presented the most important discussion anyone can have.

Who would win between Star Trek and Star Wars characters?

We held a tournament where they fought it out, mano on Greedo, until only one remained. The audience decided the winners by discussion and yelling.

Listen as learned individuals conduct serious discussions about this stuff, as one must when one attends a sci-fi convention.

RevCast LIVE from DragonCon: Pee Wee’s Big Adventure 30th Anniversary

Every year at DragonCon, the RevCast’s Gary Mitchel and RevolutionSF.com large marge Joe Crowe set up shop at DragonCon to host a weekend of more fun than humans should be allowed at the American Sci-Fi Classics Track.

In 2015, we celebrated the movie Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, live.

This podcast was taped live, so there may be some audio issues therein. However, we do know that you can listen to the podcast from the basement of the Alamo.

We talk about all that and more, including Ms. Daily’s seminar on voice acting.

RevolutionSF RevCast: Manimal Anniversary Super-Spectacular

Manimal!

Manimal is out on DVD.

We never thought we would type those words.

It’s pretty much the greatest show from 1983 that contained a detective who transformed into any animal, but most of the time just a panther or a hawk. It lasted eight episodes. Then-pre-teen Joe Crowe was nonplussed.

Since then, this whole Manimal fandom thing has really gotten out of hand with him. You’ll hear why and how.

At DragonCon on the American Sci-Fi Classics Track — the live-action home of RevCast irregulars Gary Mitchel, Tegan Hendrickson and a plethora of fine folks — we hosted a Manimal panimal two years ago, way before we knew Manimal was coming out on DVD.

Download it right here!

Here it is in its entirety, because it is full of geeky love for quickly canceled sci-fi TV. Joe Crowe and Gary Mitchel were joined by dedicated fanimals Dr. Geek Scott Viguie and New York Times bestselling writer Debbie Viguie.

That’s right. Fans of Manimal packed a whole convention track room. Your move, people who take sci-fi too seriously.

There is also a discussion about the wisdom of Hollywood pitching movies at the Tween set when all they do is download.

RevolutionSF Podcast: Smeg, Joe, You Had One Job: Red Dwarf Revisited

Red Dwarf! It’s a British sci-fi classic about Lister, the last survivor of the human race (conveniently, a lovable slacker. So take that, all you med school overachievers!). He travels through space on the mining ship the Red Dwarf. He has companions Holly, Rimmer and Cat, but you can read about that on Wikipedia.
If you are a true fan, you’ll want the Red Dwarf Lexicon, an amazing two volumes covering all that is Red Dwarf. Our host, Deanna Toxopeus sits down with the author of the lexicon, Paul C. Giachetti. Joining them is RevCast regular, Nathan Laws. Together the three have a wide-ranging discussion on the show’s premise, themes, characters, notable (and not so notable) espisodes and even how every show has a Cousin Oliver.

RevolutionSF Podcast: Where Are You Coming From, Spider-Man?

RevNews host Gary Mitchel called together a collection of web(page)-slingers, the Titaness Tegan Hendrickson and the Mighty Michael Falkner to fully cover this amazing news!

RevolutionSF Podcast: Shadowy Men With 80s Hair: 80s Action TV Part 2

The 80s were a wonderful time for action television. Every week, K-cars exploded and flipped. Lone wolves swept into our lives, saving us from mob bosses, drug lords and the occasional communist. For our second visit to this topic, our hosts, Deanna Toxopeus and Gary Mitchel are joined by Nathan Laws to discuss three more 80s action faves, Remington Steele, Knight Rider and Scarecrow and Mrs. King. The also spend some time discussing sharks, including if Canadian sharks say sorry when they bite someone. Plus Gary gives the most “meh” endorsement of a game ever.

If you missed part 1 of our two-part look at 80s action TV, and even if you did not miss it — here’s a link.
