One of the hallmarks of Agent Carter’s first season was its willingness to look at gender issues during its period setting, and this season continues the trend, while adding another issue: race. This week’s episode both explicitly and implicitly addresses the erasure of African-Americans from the stories of the time period, but this is not the first time race has been an issue in the MCU, whether in front of the camera or behind. The “whitewashing” of the Ancient One in Doctor Strange has alternately been praised and criticized, while rumors of an Asian Iron Fist bring up some of the racist stereotyping that would probably offend modern audiences, but was seen as acceptable for the times in which they were written.

Today’s Needless Things Podcast continues my special LEGO coverage that is leading up to this weekend’s LEGO KidsFest at the Cobb Galleria Centre. I had the opportunity to talk to somebody that I consider to be a true superhero of the toy industry – LEGO Master Builder Chris Steninger.
I hope you’ve got 1.21 jiggawatts worth of “Great Scott!” all lined up and ready to go, because a Lego* jury is officially pondering the release of a Back to the Future themed DeLorean set.
Lego Cuusoo is a sort of crowdsourcing site for Lego sets that’s totally legit and run by Denmark-based brick-builder itself. You can submit a design, and if 10,000 people like it, Lego boffins will have a look. If muster is passed, the set gets produced, and you (the designer) get 1% of the total net sales in cold hard krone, which is a weird sort of Danish money that has holes in it.
